1907: A nice view of the University Quadrangle, taken from where the tennis courts are today.

1907: Some students are late for their Soc & Pol lecture...

c1910: A very early "real-photo" card of Queen's College.

1926: A similar view with a small group standing on the corner.

1940s: Almost unchanged, apart from some ivy growth on the tower to the right of the clock.

1905: There is a little boy fishing on the left of the picture - you certainly wouldn't see that now!
Today, the area in the background is filled with marina-style apartments, and the road is constant one-way traffic.
As for the boats...

c1905: Looks like this was taken from the end of Nimmo's Pier. Union Flag visible centre-right.

1908: An unusual card showing the parade ground at Renmore Barracks, home of the Connaught Rangers.
(Cards with military themes were quite popular in Victorian and Edwardian Britain and Ireland.)

c1905: The entrance to Renmore Barracks with the Garrison Chapel on the right.

c1905: Drill and rifle practice - an "action shot" to bolster pride in the Empire no doubt!

1940s: Panoramic view of Galway, probably taken from the top of St. Mary's College, a local high point.

c1920: And speaking of St. Mary's - here it is, long before the expanded building work of recent years.

c1910: Another, very clear image of this fine building.

c1905: Very old image of the ruined Franciscan Friary in Claregalway.

1904: Postcard of a painting of a Claddagh Hooker, by the Victorian artist H.C. Seppings-Wright.

1914: An idealised image of Galway for foreign consumption.
The closest thing to reality it could be would be of Long Walk before any Claddagh bridge.

1940s: Multi-view card.

1940s: Another multi-view card with nice image of Browne doorway, and railings around Eyre Square.

1950s: The Pavilion Gardens in Salthill, with the famous Hangar dancehall in the background.

1920s: Novelty card which opens out to show collection of small images of Galway city.

1920s: Another novelty hinged card with small images inside.

c1940: As you can tell from the printing of the word 'Galway', these cards were probably used elsewhere...

c1930: Another secret-door card with a half-dozen Galway photos inside.
