1905: A wonderful image of the facade of Menlo Castle.
1903: A classic vignetted image, common of early postcards, showing pleasure boaters passing the Castle.
1908: A great picture of Menlo Castle, home of the Blake family.
Although posted in 1908, this was probably taken around 1900, well before the fire of 1910 that gutted the castle.
c1908: The ivy has covered more of the facade of the castle by the time this photo was taken.
c1908: Another pre-fire image of the castle, on a beautiful, still day.
c1905: A distant image of the castle taken from the Dangan side of the river.
The building is still covered with ivy which would have been burned off in the fire, as can be seen in later images.
1920s: The ruined castle is an abandoned wreck in this card. And, unfortunately it still is today due to years of Council inaction.
c1935: A pleasure-boater rowing down-river, possibly back to the boat-hire in Woodquay.
c1920: The castle, nicely framed by a hole in a wall across the river.
